3 Night Solar Eclipse Special Package Itinerary
Day 1 Sunday 11th November 2012
Fly into Cairns international or domestic airport. You will be met on arrival and transferred to Port Douglas via the stunning scenic Cook Highway hugging the coastline and providing amazing views - and maybe a quick stop at Rex Lookout for a photo opportunity! On arrival in Port Douglas and after checking in to your accommodation choice you can relax for the rest of the day. If you have arrived before midday you could wander down to Anzac Park on the sea-front to visit the Sunday Markets as Sunday is Market Day in Port. The Sunday market is a buzz of tropical activity and both locals and visitors love it! The market features local arts, crafts, massage and a superb array of amazing tropical fruits and flowers. After the market you can take a lazy stroll along Port’s magnificent 4 Mile Beach, or grab a drink and lunch at any one of Ports wonderful restaurants that line Macrossan Street, or even join the Sunday session for a drink and some great music on the verandah at Ports famous Central Hotel!
Day 2 Monday 12th November 2012
Free. This day has been left free for you to consider the many choices available in this wonderful location. If you are only doing the 3 night package, you HAVE to take a day cruise out to the Great Barrier Reef! If water is not your thing, an optional day tour to the magnificent World Heritage Daintree Rainforest would be our second suggestion. Back in Port tonight and a chance to sample one of Ports amazing range of restaurants. Personally - our choice as ex locals - Nautilus or Sassis. Amazing wonderful ambience and even more incredible food! enjoy!
Day 3 Tuesday 13th November 2012
Free. If you have been out to the Reef and not the Daintree, - or vice versa - maybe this is the choice. It would be ours as the Reef and the Daintree are rated as the top 100 things to do in most travel guides and also are our honest opinion as well. An alternative - if these don’t appeal - is you could start your day at the Wildlife Habitat in Port with a sumptuous buffet style tropical breakfast with the birds, crocodiles, pythons, koalas, kangaroos and cassowaries - all in a beautiful natural setting. 4 Mile Beach also makes for a lazy relaxing day, nearby Mossman Gorge for a swim in crystal clear rainwater lagoons, or a day trip to Kuranda Skyrail and Tjapakai performance - whatever - you have an enormous choice - or just relax in this amazing little town!
Day 4 Wednesday 14th November 2012
An early start today on on this historic ‘once in a lifetime’ event! - the day of the Total Solar Eclipse. You are transferred by air-conditioned coach to nearby Wangetti Beach - where you will have one of the best seats in the world to see this unique phenomenon. As you watch the sun rise, first light, then the passing of the moon as it covers the the sun in the eclipse at around 6.40 am local time you will be not only watching - but creating history. After the event we will transfer literally across the road for breakfast to Hartley’s Crocodile Adventure Park. Breakfast, crocodile tours, snake shows... and a chance to freshen up before you are transferred back back to Cairns for your trip home or onto further holiday adventures.
