Holiday Australia: The All Australian Hollday Company

High Country Horseback Riding: 5 days: Man from Snowy River: 3 day Cattle Drive: Fabulous - Once in a lifetime experience!

The Lovicks:
Hailing from Mansfield in Victoria at the foot of the Snowy Mountains (commonly known as Australia’s High Country) the Lovicks first took skiers overland to Mt Buller in the late 1800s beginning a tradition of horse riding tours celebrating the romance and adventure of Victoria’s legendary high country. Seven generations later, Charlie and Glenda Lovick invite you to join them in an adventure of a lifetime.

The Lovick family is among a small group of pioneering men and women who have lived and worked in the Victorian high country for generations. In 1929 Mt Lovick was named in recognition of their long-standing connection with the land. Known as mountain cattlemen, the Lovicks grazed their cattle in the mountains throughout summer and in 1967 established their first adventure tour company, allowing people from all walks of life to learn the values and traditions of mountain cattlemen.

The Horses:
Lovicks horses are willing, kind and surefooted, and will carry you safely over the rugged terrain of the Great Dividing Range. Their horses aren’t just trail riding horses, they are smart bush horses and know their country well. Lovicks are experts in matching horse and rider, and will ensure you feel safe and supported throughout your horseback riding adventure.

 3 Day Cattle Muster
Lovick’s iconic 3-day ‘Push to the Bush’ Cattle Drive is a great way to combine the thrill of working with cattle on horseback with a once in a lifetime tour of Australia’s magnificent high country.

After mustering up the ‘bush mob’ at Merrijig you will set out along the traditional stock route to Seeforth Station (selected by the family in 1870) sleeping under the stars at Dungeon Gully on your first night out. The second day you continue along the spectacular tree fern gullies and old growth forests toward Sheepyard Flat to camp on the banks of the Howqua River. As the cattle disperse in the Upper Jamieson River Valley (where they will spend the summer months) you ride on to see spectacular views across the Great Divide and High Plains beyond. A wonderful once in a lifetime experience!
